7a04 aluminum rod belongs to the Al-Zn-Mg-Cu series ultra-high strength aluminum alloy, also known as super duralumin.

It is usually in a quenched artificial aging state. At this time, the strength is much higher than that of ordinary duralumin, but the plasticity is lower.

It has good spot weldability, poor gas weldability, and good machinability after heat treatment, but poor machinability after annealing.
