6A02(A96151) Aluminum Bar Supplier|Aerospace Grade

6A02 is a heat-treatable wrought aluminum alloy, primarily alloyed with magnesium and silicon. It is commonly used in forging, extrusion, and rolling processes. As a medium-strength alloy, it offers excellent corrosion resistance while maintaining good machinability and weldability. Due to the presence of copper and magnesium, it retains good mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, making it suitable for components requiring moderate heat resistance.Welcom to Contact

Based on the chemical composition provided above, it can be observed that 6A02 and A96151 aluminum alloys share a very similar composition. In terms of copper content, 6A02 allows for a higher percentage. For manganese or chromium, 6A02 offers a choice, while A96151 has a chromium content consistent with 6A02 but a manganese content of less than 0.20%. Other minor deviations can be essentially disregarded. Therefore, these two alloys can be considered interchangeable in certain applications.

Features of 6A02 (A96151) aluminum bar

Moderate Strength: 6A02 aluminum offers moderate strength (though lower than other wrought aluminum alloys). It exhibits high ductility in the annealed condition and good ductility after quenching and natural aging. In the hot condition, it is highly ductile and easily forged and stamped.

Easy Machinability: 6A02 aluminum has excellent machinability, including cutting, drilling, bending, and forming. While its machinability is average in the annealed condition, it is excellent after quenching and aging.

Excellent Corrosion Resistance: In the quenched and naturally aged condition, 6A02 aluminum exhibits corrosion resistance similar to 3A21 and 5A02. However, alloys in the artificially aged condition tend to intergranular corrosion. Alloys with a copper content below 0.1% have higher corrosion resistance than those in the artificially aged condition.

Good Heat Treatment Response: 6A02 aluminum alloy can be further strengthened and hardened through heat treatment (such as T5 and T6 conditions), making it suitable for applications requiring specific mechanical properties.

Weldability: 6A02 aluminum has excellent weldability and can be easily spot-welded, hydrogen atom welded, and gas-welded, while maintaining good mechanical properties after welding.
